Short answer

What are lookalike companies?

Lookalike companies share the traits of a company you choose, usually among your best customers: what they sell, who they sell to, size, place, how they price, how they are run. Buyers use lookalike companies to find new customers, partners, distributors and other kinds of companies they name. BookYourData finds them for you in the countries you name and adds the right people at each one, with direct email and direct dial or mobile number.

You name 3 shops or 3 software companies you sell to well. We send back more companies like them, each with the owner's or manager's direct email and direct dial or mobile number. In plain words, lookalike companies are similar companies. What you get: a list of named companies and people you keep and contact, never ads shown to strangers. Lookalike targeting here means finding the companies and the people themselves.

Already have a list from another provider?

Send a few of your best customers and the list another provider gave you. We read the pattern in those customers, then show what that list missed. The answer arrives by reply email. Your list stays in your file while data appending adds the missing emails and phone numbers to it.

Examples

Worked examples of lookalike companies, what you send and what comes back

You name 3 companies, we return lookalikes

You name 3 companies you want more of, and the role you sell to. We read what they share: what they sell, who they sell to, how they price, size, place, how they are run. Your rules sit on top, and your current customers stay out. We return more companies like them. At each company you get the people in that role, with their direct email and direct dial or mobile number.

Independent pre-owned luxury watch shops

You ask for independent pre-owned luxury watch shops in New York, or across America: shops that sell Patek Philippe, a single store or a few, owner-run, never a chain or franchise. We keep the shops that describe themselves as Asian-owned on their own site, in a listing or a certification. Ownership is never guessed from a name or a photo. People: owner and store manager, each with direct email and direct dial or mobile number.

From your won deals

A software company selling to clinics sends the deals it already won. We keep the customers with the highest lifetime value, the fastest close and the ones who stay. Their pattern: small clinics with 10 to 50 staff on a monthly plan below a set price. Your customers and open deals stay out. In the countries you name, we find more clinics like them. People: practice owner and operations manager, with direct email and direct dial or mobile number.

From competitors' case studies

A new HR software business with no customers names 3 competitors. From their customer pages and case-study pages, we list the kinds of customers those competitors win, then find more companies of the same kinds. Your rules go on top: place, size, what to leave out. Each company comes with its HR managers, direct email and direct dial or mobile number.

More clinics or distributors

A supplier to independent dental clinics names 2 clinics it serves well, and we find clinics like them in the states you name, independent only. People: practice owner and office manager, with direct email and direct dial or mobile number. A plastics maker sends its 20 best distributors. We find distributors like them by the product lines they carry, in the countries you name, and add purchasing managers with direct email and direct dial or mobile number.

Shops at a watch fair

Your rules stack, and the stack runs deep. Take independent New York shops that sell Patek Philippe. You name a watch fair in Singapore held last year. We keep the shops that exhibited at or attended it. A shop stays only when it describes itself as Asian-owned on its own site, listing or certification. We never guess that ownership from a name or a photo. People: owner, with direct email and direct dial or mobile number. More on request.

Getting started

How ordering lookalike companies works in 4 steps

You tell us who your best customers are and we reply within 1 business day with the plan, the count and 10 free records. You order and most builds arrive within 3 business days, once or on a repeat.

  1. 1

    You send what you have

You know your best customers better than we do, so you name them and we build the full list. A file or a spreadsheet works too: you send it as a reply to our email.

Best customers

How we find similar companies to your best customers

Lookalike companies, or companies like your best customers, come from a shared pattern: we read what the deals you already won have in common, then find the companies built the same way, with your rules on top.

  1. 1

    Tell us your best customers

You tell us who your best customers are. Send the deals you already won, and we pick your best customers from them by lifetime value, speed to close and the customers who stay. We read your file, even when it's messy.

  2. 2

    We read their own pages

We read each company's own pages: homepage, pricing page, About Us page. We read how it is run, how big it is, where it is, the tools it uses, the roles it hires for and the events it attends. More on request.

  3. 3

    We write down the pattern

We write down the pattern, never an industry label alone: what your best customers sell, who they sell to, how they price, and any other trait you name. Marketers call this lookalike modeling of companies.

  4. 4

    More routes at once

We find the companies that share the pattern by more than a single route at once, each route picked for your request. A company ranks higher when its own pages point back to your best customers.

  5. 5

    Your rules go on top

Your rules go on top: place, size, how they are run, how they sell, what they show, who you need, what to leave out. More on request. Your customers and open deals are left out. Each company is checked live after you order.

  6. 6

    You get the right people

You get the right people at each company, with direct email and direct dial or mobile number. Every record carries the reason it matched, in words, and a source link. You see why a company is on your list before you reach out.

What a lookalike companies record holds before you order

Each lookalike companies record is a single person at a matching company, with the company's details, direct email and direct dial or mobile number. The email is checked on delivery day and shows as verified. Closest matches come first, each reason written in words, never a number. More fields on request.

  • Each record says why the company matched your best customers.
  • On delivery day, we check each email again.
  • You get a direct email and direct dial or mobile number.
  • A source link shows the page each record came from.

Competitor targeting and its 2 asks

Competitor targeting here means 2 asks. You name a company, or a competitor, and we find companies like it. Or you ask for the customers of a competitor: we read that competitor's case studies, customer pages and partner pages, start from the customers named there, then add companies like them. Each matching company comes with the right people.

Competitor intelligence means a list of the companies that compete with you or with any company you name, each with the right people.

Pricing

What lookalike companies cost, by records

A lookalike companies list costs the same as our done-for-you list builds: 15 price tiers from $499, no setup fee, and you pay only for filled records. Each record is a person at a matching company. The record comes with the company details, direct email and direct dial or mobile number. BeSpoke is BookYourData's private list building service, so a lookalike companies order uses the 15 price tiers.

Why BookYourData Wins

Why an API provider cannot build this list for you

An API provider is a service your own code asks, one lookup at a time, and the answer comes from a list the provider already holds.

What one lookup hands back

One lookup hands back near matches from one provider's own list, ranked by one number, companies alone. No person comes with them. A bare number does the ranking, with no reason in words. You never learn why a company matched.

What you bring

You bring websites in a fixed shape, your own code, your own filters. The provider answers the lookup and stops there. Shaping inputs, writing code, tuning filters, reading what comes back: all of that work lands on your side of the table.

What an API provider never does for you

An API provider never reads the deals you already won, never applies your rules, never checks each company live and never adds the right people with direct email and direct dial or mobile number. We do the opposite. We use 1,000+ data sources to find and check the people we deliver at each matching company.

Delivery options

How your lookalike companies list reaches you

CRM import and CRM integration

You choose. Get a file in your CRM's import format and import it yourself, or BookYourData loads the records into your CRM for you.

Your list as a CSV or Excel batch file

The whole list arrives as a spreadsheet file. Open it, sort it, share it with your team.

An API for your lookalike companies list

Have a developer? Your tools ask for the records, and the API answers once the list is built: the companies and their people. Never a live lookup.

Once or recurring

Take the list once, or set repeats: quarterly, monthly or weekly. Repeats run only when you pick them.

A repeat brings new companies only, never a company you already have. Another route is available on request.

FAQ

The basics

What is a lookalike company?

A lookalike company is a company like your best customers: what it sells, who it sells to, size, place, how it prices and how it is run. Buyers use lookalike companies to find new customers, partners, distributors and other kinds of companies they name. BookYourData does the finding for you, with the right people at each company.

Is a lookalike companies list the same as a lookalike audience for ads?

No. A lookalike audience is a group a platform shows ads to. A lookalike companies list names companies and people, each with direct email and direct dial or mobile number, yours to keep. You load the same companies into your own ad tools when you want ads too. Lookalike targeting here means finding the companies and the people themselves.

What is in a record?

A record is a person at a matching company. The company side holds the name, website, company profile page link, place, what it sells, size, the reason it matched (in words), and a source link. The person side adds first and last name, title, direct email, and direct dial or mobile number. More fields on request.

What is a direct dial?

A direct dial is a person's own business number, the phone at their desk. You dial the person, not the company's main line and not a switchboard. A mobile number is the same idea: their own phone, in their pocket. Our direct dials page has the details.

Do I get the people too, or companies alone?

Both. A list of bare company names runs thin. A name never answers your email. A person does. Each company we deliver comes with the right people at it, each with direct email and direct dial or mobile number. You write to a person, and you phone a person.

What you send

What is the smallest list of example companies I send?

A single company name is enough to start. A single sentence works too, like "small owner-run dental clinics in Texas". More customers sharpen the pattern. There is no minimum and no cap.

What if I have no CRM or no customers yet?

You start from whatever you have, with or without a CRM. A spreadsheet with a few names does the job. So does a short sentence. With no customers yet, you name your competitors instead, and we read their case studies and customer pages, where they describe who buys from them, then find companies just like those.

Which customers do I send?

The ones you want more of. From the deals you already won, we pick your best customers by lifetime value, speed to close and the customers who stay. Lifetime value is what a customer is worth to you over the whole time they keep buying. Advice, never a limit: you know your buyers better than we do.

Do I add my own rules, like country, size, independent or events?

Yes. Any rule you describe goes on top. Place, size, how they are run, how they sell, events, tools, hiring, certifications, the titles you need at each company. You don't need special words for it. State the rule in plain language and we apply it. More on request.

Do you find companies like my competitors' customers?

Yes. Competitor targeting here covers 2 requests. You ask for companies like one competitor you name. Or you ask for the customers of a competitor plus companies like those customers. We find those customers by reading the competitor's case studies, customer pages and partner pages. Both requests come back with the right people at each company.

How matching works

How do you decide a company is like mine?

We read each company in layers: what they sell, who they sell to, size, place, how they are run, what their homepage, pricing page and About Us page say, plus anywhere else a company shows how it is built. Your rules sit on top. An industry label or a number alone never decides a match.

Do you find small local and niche businesses?

Yes. We find small local and niche businesses by place and by kind, and we read what their own websites say. How a business is run (independent, family-owned, owner-run, chain) is a rule you add to narrow the list. With no such rule, all kinds are included. You name the places, a city or a whole country.

Do you find people like the buyers I already have?

Yes, on request. The standard order brings the right people by title at each matching company: owner, operations manager, head of sales, marketing director, purchasing manager, office manager, or any title you name. Ask instead for people like the buyers you already have, and we build the list that way. More on request.

Do you rank the accounts already in my CRM by how close they are to my best customers?

On request. Send the accounts you already hold, and we rank them by how close each one sits to your best customers: the ones picked by lifetime value, speed to close and the customers who stay. The ranked file comes back to you with the closest matches first.

What if my market looks too small?

Then you widen your rules: more places, more kinds you name, a bigger radius around a city. More on request. Our first reply gives the count of companies that match before you pay. A recurring order keeps adding new companies.

Do you leave out my current customers and open deals?

Yes. Send an exclusion list: your customers, open deals, past orders, partners and kinds you never sell to. All of them are left out of your build. A repeat brings new companies only, never one you already have.

Price and timing

How much does a lookalike companies list cost?

A lookalike companies list uses the same 15 price tiers as our done-for-you list builds. Prices run from $499, and there is no setup fee. You pay only for filled records. One record is one person at a matching company, with the company details, direct email and direct dial or mobile number.

Do I see records before I pay?

Yes. Our first reply carries your 10 free records. You see real records before you pay anything. Each free record is a full record: one person at a matching company, counted the same way as the ones you pay for.

How fast do I get the list?

We reply within 1 business day with the plan, the count of companies that match and your 10 free records. Most builds arrive within 3 business days. Bigger lists get exact timing in our reply.

Is a lookalike order a subscription?

No. An order gets you a list, and nothing runs after that. A repeat starts only when you pick it in the form: quarterly, monthly or weekly. Each repeat brings new companies only, never a company you already have. No renewal and nothing you did not choose.

How does a repeat order work?

By default, your order covers a single list. A recurring order goes quarterly, monthly or weekly, and it runs only when you pick it in the form. Each repeat brings new companies only, never a company you already have.

Delivery and data

How do you deliver the list?

You pick the route: CRM import, records we load into your CRM, a CSV or Excel batch file, or an API that answers when the list is built. CRM import is only the file in your CRM's import format, which you load. We load the records into your CRM, and that is its own route. More routes on request.

How fresh is the list?

Your list is built after you order, never before. Each company is checked live, with dead, duplicate and misfiled websites removed. A source link sits on each record, and each email is checked again on delivery day.

Do you work in other countries?

Yes, in the countries you name. 200+ countries is the count of countries in the BookYourData database, and we search the ones you name, small local and niche businesses included. Our reply gives the count of companies that match there before you pay.

Where does the data come from, and is it legal to use?

BookYourData delivers facts that companies and people published themselves, and each BookYourData product goes through its GDPR and CCPA processes. We make no claim about the law. Before you use the list, check your own local rules with your own lawyer.
